I Smith’s Flight Toward Sydney
(Rec. January 20, 7.30 p.m.). Darwin, January 20.
Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith left with the air mail at 6.40 o’clock this morning for Newcastle Waters. He had to empty portion of his 300 gallons of fuel before he was able to rise. He then got away excellently. The ground was firm, despite six inches of rain during the past six days.
