EX-QUEEN’S DEATH
An Operation for Cancer ■ i FORMER KAISER’S SISTER (Rec. January 14, 7.30 p.m.). London, January 14. The death is reported at Frankfort of ex-Queen Sophia of Greece, following an operation for cancer. Hie ex-Kalser had been forbidden to visit and see her. Sister of the ex-Gennan Emperor, exQueen Sophia of Greece, was 61 years of age. In 1889 she married Konstantinos, who succeeded on the asssassination of his father, Georgios I, in March, 1913. In 1922 King Konstantinos abdicated and was succeeded by his eldest son, Georgios, who, in turn, lost, his throne, and was forced to leave Greece in December, 1923, when the Republic cams into being. Konstantinos died in exile in January of that year. Ex-Queen Sophia’s eldest daughter is ex-Queen Helene of Roumania, who is having her share of exile. She was forced to leave her country following her divorce from her husband, King Carol.
