WEDDINGS

Brixton —Robinson An interesting wedding took place recently at St. John’s Church, Latimer Square, Christchurch, when Jean Evelyn, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Robinson, was married to Henry James, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Brixton, of Christchurch. The oflieiating clergyman was the Rev. McWilliam. Miss Black presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was gowned in white satin cut on medieaval lines. The bodice was trimmed with palest blue and pearl motif. The skirt fell to ankle length. Her satin train was veiled in tulle and embroidered with pearls and finished soft folds. She wore a handembroidered veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet. The bride was preceded to the altar by three bridesmaids, Miss Florence Brown and Mrs. R. Taylor, matron of honour, both wearing French frocks of ivory fail hand-painted. With these they wore coatees of red lace and large tulle hats, caught off the face with brilliant pins. Their shoes were of red satin, and they carried bouquets to tone. Miss Evelyn Newton, the small bridesmaid and niece of the bride, wore a frilly frock of duck-egg blue celanese in joddet style. Her hat was of tulle and she carried a bouquet in the same shade. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. V. Bowndy as best man and Mr. K, Wilkinson as groomsman. At the reception later the bride’s mother received over 100 guests, wearing a model frock in navy cut on slanting lines and finished with white georgette. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a black crepe-de-chine frock with touches of beige. Mrs. K. Smith, sister of the bride, was in autumn-tinted silk georgette and brown pineapple straw hat. Mrs. G. Permain, of Masterton, sister of the bride, wore boix-de-rose embroidered in deeper shade and floral coatee with Bankok hat to tone. Mrs. Newton, another sister of the bride, chose Naples blue georgete, floral scarf and grey baku straw with bandeau of flowers. Miss Brixton, sister of the bridegroom, was in flared frock of green and hat to tone. The bride travelled in a celanese suit in threetone brown, hat of fawn and brown with lifted brim, and skunk throwover stole. J ‘ ' Heath—Hatcher The Rev. V. A. Bianchi was the officiating minister at a wedding performed at St. Lawrence’s Church, Aramoho, on November 25, when Mavis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hatcher, Wanganui East, was married to Wilfred, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Heath, Upper Aramoho, Wanganui. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore an ankle-length frock of embossed silk taffeta, and her veil was held in place with orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of roses and Christmas lilies. ‘Miss Amanda Heath, sister of the bridegroom, acted as bridesmaid, wear-, ing pepper tree satin beaute and a white felt hat. Mr. E. Waugh attends ed the bridegroom. About, 90 guests were welcomed after the ceremony by Mrs. Hatcher at St. Laurence’s schoolroom. Mrs. Hatcher wore black silk maroeain embossed with gold, and hat to match. Her bouquet was of scarlet roses and carnations. Mrs. Heath wore silver lace, and carried a bouquet of blue flowers. ♦ * » Logan—Robson The wedding took place recently at the Baptist Church, Lower Hutt, of Jean Winifred, only daughter of Mrs. and the late' Mr. W. T. Robson, to William, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Logan. The church was decorated by girl friends of the bride. Mrs. H. Lowe was at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, was in a long frock of cream crepe Empress. The skirt was rucked at the side with full silk lace panels flared at the hem. Her Brussels lace veil, which was lent by afriend, formed a train and was caught with clusters of orange blossom, while her bouquet was Of lilies of the valley. There were two maids, Misses Irene Gardner and Phyllis Scholefield, their sleeveless frocks being of apple green and blue floral georgette, and their felt hats toned with their frocks. There were also two small trainbearers, Marion Clapshaw, in a pale blue crepe-de-chine ankle-length frock, and Kenneth:, Robson, wlio wore a cream satin suit. Mr. W. Clclland acted as best man, and Mr. C. Smallwood as groomsman. The Rev. J. T. Crozier solemnised the marriage. A reception, -at which about 50 guests were present, was afterward held in Tua Rua Hall.- The bride’s mother received the guests in a frock of black maroeain, a black coat with touches of fur, and a < black hat. The bride travelled in a green floral.., crepe-de-chine frock, a green diagonal •, tweed coat,'and hat of the; same shade. CHRISTMAS, PARTY Big Family Gathering ■ / A novel form of Christmas party, was held on Saturday, when the descendants of Mrs. Carter, of Levin, met her at the home of one of her. daughters, Mrs. Jeffs, 12 Palm Grove, Berhampore. Four generations were represented, and of the 101 descendants ’of .Mrs, Carter nearly 80 were present;' some having come from as far away as Feilding. One of the trees in the back yard was used as a Christmas tree, and all received a present. Mrs. Carter is 84 years of age.
