Wellington v. Wayside
The members of the Wellington Chesa Club were at home on Saturday evening to a visting team from the newly formed Wayside Chess Club. A cordial welcome was extended to the visitors by Mr. F. K. Kelling in the absence of the president, Mr. W. Mackay. Mr. W. Toomath, hon. secretary, then announced the pairings, the play resulting as follow: —

Otto, who saw some of the world s leading masters in action while residing in Russia., fully extended the New Zealand champion at board 1, where an ending of kings and pawns ended in a draw. He is a decided acquisition to Wellington s chess circles. Most of the games were verv stubbornly contested, and were not finished till a late.hour. The play-was in reality of a far more even naturd than the scores would indicate. , , . The fact that there are now twelve chess clubs in.
