OBITUARY

Mrs. C. A. O’Leary With the passing of Mrs. Catherine Agnes O’Leary recently, Upper Hutt has lost another of its old identities. Born in 1852, Mrs. O’Leary came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Donald Denny in 1875, and later was married to Mr. Florence O’Leary in Australia. After spending some time there, Mr. and Mrs. O’Leary returned to New Zealand. For many years they kept the Provincial Hotel at Hutt, and later retired to live in the The late Mrs. O’Leary is survived by her husband. She had two brothers, Mr. James and Mr. Steve Dealy, and the late Sister Paul was her sister One son. Sergeant Dan O Leary, was killed in the Great War after three years’ service, and another is chief engineer on a trading steamer. One daughter is married to Mr. M. Budby. ° f Sirs%°’Leary had ten grandchildren. Mrs E. P. Levien. The death occurred yesterday niorning at her home, Leadenham Flats, Tinakori Road, of Mrs. Levien wife of Mr E P. Levien, and a daughter of Die late Mr. Robert Leary, formerly of Lower Hutt, and Mrs. Fuller, of Picton Mrs. Levien leaves two daughters Mrs Trevor Jarvis, of Wellington, and Mrs. Edward Previtt of London. Her sisters are Mesdames Samue inson, Grantham Bothamiey. and M H. Russell, all of Wellington. Miss G. E. Chatwin A former headmistress of th ® Infant School, Miss Georgina Elizabeth Chatwin, died at Te Kuiti on Friday, fl’he late Miss Chatwin was born durin„ the vovage of her parents from England to Victoria. After being educated at Ballarat and Clunes, Victoria, she took up teaching and had some experience as an instructress before she came to New Zealand. On her arrival here she was appointed to Judgeford School near Pahautanui. then served two years, at Kilbirnie. and in ISS6 was appointed headmistress of the Te Aro Infant SehooL She retired in 1912.
