Aomori officials are appealing to the Government to grant twenty million yen to relieve 900,000 inhabitants in the prefecture who are facing starvation through the worst famine for many years. There is unprecedented distress. The Imperial Household has granted monetary relief and has sent an officer to investigate the conditions.
