WIND, HAIL, SUNSHINE
Another Variable Week-end Wellington again experienced variety weather at the week-end. Saturday morning was dull with a cold nor’-wester blowing. Soon after mid-day the wind dropped to a flat calm, but in the afternoon a strong southerly sprang up. bringing a heavy shower of hail. The weather cleared afterward, but more hail fell during the night. Sunday was cold, but the sun shone during the afternoon. The wind was still cold, but later dropped to a light breeze. The weather at Duneidn was wintry on Saturday morning, with snow and sleet showers, bnt it improved during the day, nnd the barometer showed a rising tendency. Yesterday was pleasantly fine, with bright sunshine nnd a light breeze from the sonth-west. The barometer is rising unsteadily, last night’s reading being 29.80 in. At Christchurch Saturday was cold and bleak with a strong south-west wind and light showers of sleet at intervals. Snow fell on the ranges, and in places along the foothills ,and there was a shower in the city late at night. Yesterday was a perfect spring day, being mild and sunny with a light breeze from the north-east.
