A HEN AND HER KITTENS

I was collecting eggs in our farmyard a few days ago when I noticed something black moving under one of the broody hens in a shed, writes n farmer’s wife. On lifting her up I found three kittens.

They belonged to our cat, but the hen seemed to think them her own. As the cat was in the shed I took away the hen and put the mother with the kittens; but the hen flew back and necked her so badly that I had to take both the cat and kittens away.
