DECREASED PRODUCTION
Masterton Dairy Company 5 Dominion Special Service. Masterton, September 4. At the annual meeting ot the Masterton Co-operative Dairy Co., this morning, the chairman of directors, Mr, J. C. Ewington, said that in spite of the fact that the company’s suppliers had Increased to 800. the production for the year had decreased by 70 tons. This was due entirely to the dry. weather that had been experienced during three months of the past season. The production for the year was 730 tons, with 800 supplier*, and for the previous eeason 80X tons wit'b 763 suppliers. The average payout for the season had been three points under 1/- a lb for butterfat, including the cost of cartage. Forty per cent, of the company's product had gone on the local market. This market was a valuable one, for even If a lower price than that for export was received, the costs of storage were saved. Another feature was that the packing of butter for the local market kept a number of men employed.
The meeting decided to pay out a further bonus of 2d a lb on butterfat for. the month of November, and Id a lb for the months of December and January. In addition the payment of a dividend of 6 per cent, on paid-up capital was recommended.
The retiring directors, Messrs. W. H. Harcombe, W. H. Bradley, and L. R. Wilton, were re-elected. Mr. G. W. Sellar was appointed auditor.
