King George V Hospital TRANSFER TO OTAKI The demolition of the King George V Hospital at Rotorua and its re-erection at Otaki on the site Mr. Byron Brown recently presented to the Government for the purpose of a children’s health camp has been decided upon by the authorities. Tenders for dismantling the hospital, transferring it and re-erecting it at Otaki are now being called. The site presented by Mr. Brown has been added to by land purchased from the Natives, and the total area is now about 100 acres. There is three-quarters of a mile frontage to the ocean beach, and the ground has already been cleared in readiness for the erection of the building. ; The work bf transferring the hospital and reconstructing it at Otaki is to be expedited with a view to having the quarters ready this summer. It is expected that the work will be completed in about three months’ time.

The King George V Hospital was opened after the Great War for the treatment of members of the Expeditionary Force suffering from the effects of their active service. Subsequently civilian patients were treated at the institution, but some time ago it was closed. The building is commodious and will be re-erected in its entirety. Children suffering from malnutrition will be selected to go into the health camp by school medical officers.
