SUPPLY OF FRUIT-CASES
Made in New Zealand That it might not be necessary, in future, to import wood for fruit cases was mentioned by the president, Mr. T. C. Brash, at the annual meeting of the Fruitgrowers’ Federation yesterday. The directors had long desired to keep the orders for fruit cases within the Dominion, said Mr. Brash. Again and again they hnd conferred with the New Zealand box manufacturers relative to the possibility of a local supply. Up to the present time, unfortunately, these efforts had been unsuccessful. the coming season, however, it was hoped that the federation would not require to import any cases. Orders for nearly 900,000 cases had been placed with local box manufacturers, and if the supply was satisfactory, both as regards delivery ami quality, it was anticipated that the importing of fruit cases would cease to be part of the board's activities,.
