Transferred to Wellington DETEC.-SERG. LEO REVELL Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, September 1. At the conclusion of business in the Magistrate,& Court, Wanganui, yesterday, leading citizens,' representative of all sections of the community, gathered to farewell Detective-Sergeant Leo Revell. who is under transfer to Wellington. Mr. J. 11. Salmon, S.M., presided. Addressing the bench, the mayor, Mr. N. G. Armstrong, himself a member ot the legal profession, spoke on behalf of its members in wishing Mr. Revell luck iu his new sphere, and making a presentation. It was regretted by the legal profession and the justices of the peace that Detective Revell was leaving Manganui, but they were pleased that he was going to a higher post in the ser- ' The magistrate, Mr. J. H. Salmon, said that it must be of gratification to Mr. Revell that the valedictory gatherings of Saturday and yesterday were so representative of the community, and that by the expressions of good-will his promotion was appreciated by all classes. His merits were recognised by nts fellowmen and their expression of good-will were heartily endorsed by the Bench. Mr Salmon mentioned that he could not speak on behalf of the criminal classes, but he was sure that they too would be glad that Mr. Revell wns leaving Wanganui. . . On behalf of the Justices of the Peace Association. Mr. David McFarlane congratulated Detective-Sergeant Revell on his promotion, and hoped that it would he merely <i <tep toward higher promo°Detecrive Revell, in reply, regretted that he had to leave Wanganui, and hoped that he would soon be transferee., back where he could serve the interests of the public which had shown such appreciation of him- He thanked the, speakera for their expressions of good-wiiL
