LONDON BUS DRIVERS’ TESTS. Candidates for the jobs of driving London’s buses are taught how to manage their vehicles in a skid by being trained on a special skidding ground at a London school. The ground is on a slope, and the surface is regularly dressed with a thick’ layer of oil and grease over which water is sprayed. The new driver is not passed as fit to take a bus on the asphalted streets of London until he is able to apply his brakes without skidding, and to drive between a narrow lane of posts placed in a curve. If similar tests were made compulsory for all applicants for driving licenses, it is claimed that accidents caused by unskilful driving would be reduced to a minimum. '
