Portuguese Diplomat’s Peril BOMB EXPLODES IN ROOM (Rec. August 30, 5.5 p.m.) London, August 29. “The Times” Madrid correspondent states that a bomb was thrown through the open window of the writing-room of the Portuguese Embassy, in which the Ambassador, Senhor Bareto, and his wife were sitting. Senhor Bareto bent down to , pick up the • missile, but his wife hurried him from the room. A second later the bomb exploded, wrecking the furniture. There is no clue to the identity of the throwers, but it is believed that Portuguese exiles were attempting vengeance for the failure of Wednesday’s rising. .
