About the Province The first round of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. billiards and snooker cup competition was concluded, on 'Thursday night, when .Oddfellows defeated Daniell's by -8 games to 1 The position of the teams at the conclusion of the round are as follows •.—Oddfellows, W.F.C.A., and Post Office, 4 wins each; Druids, 2; Y.M.C.A., 1; Daniell’s. 0. The three leading teams will play off on Thursday nights, while the other three will engage In matches on Tuesday nights. Next Tuesday Druids will play Daniell s, and on Thursday night Poet Office will play W.F.C.A. The Bush primary schools’ hockey competition for the Herbert Smith Trust Cup was concluded recently, when Hastwells School defeated Hukanul by 8 goals to 2. This season the competition was won by Hastwells, which played eight games, winthing seven of them, and drawing one with •Hamua. ’ ' “It Is gratifying to see that our Income is keeping up.
