LATE MRS. J. PROUSE

Choral Service and Funeral

The general esteem in which the late Mrs. John Prouse, of Clifton Terrace, Wellington,'was held, was evidenced by the large number of people who attended the memorial service, held at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, yesterday afternoon. The service, which was fully choral, was conducted by Canon Percival James, who also presided at the graveside at Wainui-o-mata. The chief mourners were Miss Constance Prouse, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Prouse, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Prouse, and the Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C. The pallbearers were Messrs. Vincent Ward. M.P., T. Y. Seddon. George Ellwood, and Ernest Dawson. Among the many mourners were noticed the Rev. D. C. Bates, Mr. A. E. Donne and Miss Lorna Donne, Messrs. W. M. and A. Burdan (of Wainui), Mr. C. M. Luke, Mr. and Mrs. F. Meadowcroft. Mrs. G. Ellwood, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Short. Mrs, Knox Gilmer, Lady Myers, Mrs. B. B. Wood. Dr. Morice, Messrs, R A. Loughnan. D. Jackson, J, Darling. H. Hooper. E. J. Hill, P. Putnam, J. Wright (Plimmerton). J. M. Geddes, and W. Wnuehop. During the service the hymn, On the Resurrection Morn” was sung, and the Nunc Dhnittis was sung as a recessional. Mr. Robert Parker presided at the organ. ' • Among the many messages of condolence ' received by the family was a cablegram from Mdlle. Antonia Dolores, the eminent singer, now resident in Paris The numerous floral tributes received were of great beauty.
