PRIZES PRESENTED

Evans Bay Yacht Club SOCIAL GATHERING Prizes won last season were presented at a social gathering of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Association, held in the club-house last evening. There was an exceedingly gratifying attendance of members and their friends from kindred clubs, and following the formal business of the evening those present participated in a dance. The commodore of the club. Mr. W. G. Wagstaff, extended a hearty welcome to those present, and mentioned that he was especially pleased to see so many repre’ sentatives from other clubs. He commented upon the fact that it was only by the assistance of the Royal Port Nichol son Yacht Club in sending around so many boats to sail in their races that the season had been such a success it was. Mr. Wagstaff said that Evans Bay was particularly grateful to the action of the remaining clubs of Wellington in allowing the Anniversary Day regatta to be held in the bay; the club certainly ap preciate it. He was very pleased that he had played some small part in assisting Wellington to secure the Sanders Cup with his Betty this year, and he hoped furthermore that the centre would retain it this year. Mr J. Patterson, the president, men tioned the death of. their late patron. Air A. George, and said that he felt it an honour to be asked to take Mr. George’s place in presenting the prizes that evening. He warmly congratulated the winners, Saying that he noticed an appreciable increase in the number of trophies on the table this year.
