SHOOT AT SIGHT
Excursionists in Sounds
Excursionists in the Sounds who shoot at “anything they see” were strongly criticised by the writer of a letter which was received by the genera! executive of the New Zealand Bird Protection Society yesterday. He said that city people would complain if someone came along and started shooting into their hedges. People in the Sounds regarded the const-line and the hills as their fences, and objected strongly to tourists shooting from launches at anything they saw. Several members expressed the view that “bird month” propaganda would assist materially to educate .such people to a sense of responsibility.
