Ruapehu Passes to Italians

Another of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamers, the Ruapehu, has been sold. The vessel, which had been engaged in the trade between New Zealand and Great Britain for many years, is at present laid up in Falmouth Harbour. i
Mr. J. H. C. Bond, Dominion superintendent for the company, who is visiting Auckland, stated that cable advice from England announced the sale of the Ruapehu to Italian buyers.
[l'lie Ruapehu has been in the New Zealand-London service tor 30 years, and has made more than 60 voyages. She was a sister-ship to the Rimutaka, which was sold some time ago. The Ruapehu was built in 1900-01 ny William Denny and Brothers, in Dumbarton. The vessel, which is the second ship of the name in the New Zealand Shipping Company’s fleet, is a passenger and cargo steamer of 8997 tons gross register. During the war she carried several reinforcements of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.]
