T. Lang, fold a deputation that the Government intends to reopen the Government Savings Bank. Legislation for this purpose, he said, is being prepared and will be introduced shortly. A committee of high Government officials had reported on a plan by which the bank would be resuscitated and conducted profitably, added Mr. Lang. Every effort would be made to eliminate political influence from the method of management, and for the restoration of public confidence. FEDERAL ASSISTANCE Will Resume Negotiations STATEMENT BY SCULLIN Canberra, August 4. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullln, told a deputation from the United Bank Officers’ Association that the Government would resume negotiations with the Commonwealth Bank for reopening the New .South Wales Savings Bank.
