YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Rain and Cold South Wind The weather was fine in Wellington in the early morning, but towards noon the wind turned to the south, and rain commenced to fall. About two o’clock it cleared, and the remainder of the day was fine. The strong westerly wind continues at Auckland, and occasional rain, showers were experienced yesterday. Though • fine a cold south-west gale made conditions unpleasant at Christchurch. There was a smattcr of rain and a skiff of snow early in the morning. The maximum temperature was 47 degrees. The south-west gale, which was blowing at Dunedin on Monday, continued uni 11 after daybreak yesterday, when it i oderntetl. but there was a continuation of unsettled southerly weather, with intermittent rain nnd sleet in the early part of the morning. The high levels around the city carry a light coating of snow. The afternoon' was overcast, but the sun broke through for brief periods. The atmosphere was very cold,
