CHARGED WITH THEFT
Farmer Sent for Trial SEVERAL SUMS INVOLVED Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, July 17. A Tokomaru farmer, John Albert Henry Schwass, aged 54, appeared before Messrs. S. Abrahams and W. G. Ashworth, J.P.’s, in the Palmerston North Police Court, to-day, to answer the charge that, on or about November 6, 1929, and various dates between then and February 28, 1931, at Tokomaru, by falselv representing that £5l/0/9 was required for the payment of wages for work done on the Mukapai estate of William Wood and Co., Ltd., he did obtaia that amount. Four further charges of theft were also preferred against accused, involving an amount of £22/7/6. the property of the company. . _ . , , Reserving his defence, accused pleadea not guiltv. and was committed to the next session of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North for trial.
