WEDDING

Brookie—Guy A quiet wedding was at the Presbyterian Church, Bulls, on Wednesday, July 8, when Phyllis Bertha, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Guy, Raumai Road, Bulls, was married to Douglas Ross, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Brookie, Parawanui, Bulls. The Rev. A. F. Stuart officiated* and Mr. C. Edwards played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very dainty in an ankle-length white satin marietta frock made with tight-fitting shirred bodice with lace yoke and flared skirt finished with deep hem of silk net. Her beautiful veil of Brussels net formed a train and fell from a coronet headdress. Her flowers were a bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. , The bridesmaid, Miss Melba Brookie (sister of ttie bridegroom), wore an ankle-length blue brocade faille frock, shoes to match, and gold leaves in her hair. A little flower girl, Margaret Brookie, niece of the bridegroom, wore an Early Victorian frock of blue'crepe de chine, and Graham Guy, cousin of the bride, who acted as pagc-bby, wore a suit of white satin and velvet. Mr. Roland Guy supported the bridegroom as best man.

After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. Guy, mother of . the bride, wore a nut-brown ensemble with hat to tone and carried an autumn-tinted bouquet Mrs. Brookie, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in a black hat and coat with black georgette frock, and carried, a bouquet of red roses and autumn tints. After the usual toasts had been honoured the happy couple left for the north, the bride travelling in a bottle-green spotted wool crepe de chine frock with green hat and coat, shoes to tone. Their future home will be in Bulls.
