PROMOTION OF TRADE
New Zealand-Australia DESIRE FOR AGREEMENT Canberra, July 17. Speaking on the Bill to ratify the Canadian Trade Treaty, the Minister of Customs, Mr. F. M. Forde, said that in the past the feeling between New Zealand and Australia had not been very good, but he trusted that this had been brushed aside. From the conversations he had had with the Comptroller of Customs in New Zealand and with other New Zealanders there seemed to be a desire on the part of the Dominion to negotiate for a trade agreement for mutual advantage, and that was something Australia hoped for. The Bill passed all stages in the House of Representatives.
