There was a large attendance of clerical and lay members. „ The Bishon of Wellington, Rt. Rev. T. 11. Sprott, D.D., in his presidential address. said he was sure that all in the diocese had felt the deepest sympathy with their fellow-citizens in Hawke’s Bay province who suffered so grievously in the recent earthquake. "As churchmen.” he said, “we also sympathise with the Diocese of Waipu, which has suffered au enormous loss of property. We all. I am sure, feel that something must be done to help the reconstruction of the Church in the devastated area. Up to date this diocese has been able to send them £903. Of this sum £5OO has been given by one member of the church who does not wish his name disclosed." Bishop Sprott went on to deal with diocesan matters. He reported that the Rev.
