NGAIO SWIMMING BATH
Suggested as Relief Work w The City Council, at its last meeting, decided, on the recommendation of the reserves, baths, and beaches committee, that swimming baths be not provided at Ngaio, and a letter to that effect was sent to the Ngaio Progressive Association. - Notwithstanding that decision, Mr. H. L. Cummings, representing the • association, waited on the committee yesterday a’fternoon, and suggested that the excavation for the proposed baths might be undertaken under the No. 5 unemployment relief scheme. If that could be done, he thought that perhaps enough money could be collected in Ngaio to meet the cost of tools, haulage and insurance. The chairman, Councillor F. Meadowcroft, promised consideration of the suggestion.
