Reform’s Wellington Campaign TO CONTEST ALL SEATS The submission of candidates for the Wellington seats at the next general election was discussed at a large meeting held this week by the organisation committee of the Wellington group of the Reform Party. Preliminary steps taken in Wellington Suburbs and Wellington North were reported by Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., and Mr. G. A. Troup, Reform candidates tor those seats. 'ln both electorates considerable progress has already been made, and the formation of committees is to be undertaken without delay. The candidature of Mr. Troup was enthusiastically endorsed by the meeting, which was advised that he was being very favourably received by supporters of Reform throughout the electorate. The unanimous decision of the meeting was that every seat would be contested at the election and that candidates not already in the field would be announced at an early date. It was decided to appoint an organiser for all seats immediately. PAHIATUA ELECTORATE Possible Reform Candidate Dominion Special Service. Dannevirke, June 25. A deputation comprising well over 100 Reform supporters representative of all parts of the Pahiatua electorate, waited upon the mayor, Mr. Marcus Smith, and asked him to contest the seat in the forthcoming election in the interests of the Reform Party. Mr. Smith promised to give a reply within a fortnight. He stated that while he was not at the moment able to reply definitely, he would almost certainly accept the invitation. At a meeting of Reform supporters held in Dannfevirke this afternoon, the following resolution was carried unanimously“ That this meeting endorses the action of the leader of the party, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, in regard to the question of fusion; further, this meeting is of the opinion that fusion between the Reform and United parties would mot be in the best interests of the Dominion.” Reform Nominee for Invercargill By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, June 25. It is announced that Mr. George Agnew has been chosen as the Reform candidate for the Invercargill seat at the forthcoming general election. Mr. Agnew is first assistant master at the Invercargill South School, and a member of the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association.
