KARORI'S PROGRESS
Review of Association “Although many streets in Karori remain in a deplorable condition, really calling for urgent attention, members will recognise that a great deal of work lias been done and many of the district roads greatly improved,” states the report of the Karori Progress Association submitted at the annual meeting last evening. The hope is expressed that Birdwood Street will receive attention this year. It is stated that there is cause for gratification that no serious accident occurred during; the building of the Kelburn Viaduct. The old bridge was considered to have been a danger to both pedestrians and vehicular traffic. The report expresses the hope that the Bowen-Sydney Streets tram route will shortly be assured. Regret is expressed that no progress has been made with the Karori baths scheme. Residents are urged to be prepared to advance the proposal at the first opportunity. It is remarked that unfortunately no resident of Karori or Northland would accept nomination for the recent City Council election. The district is now without direct representation on the council. The failure of many members to pay subscriptions has left the association with a debit balance.
