CONSULAR RECEPTION

Signora Formichella, wife of Cav. Dottore Formichella, Consul for Italy, gave a reception yesterday afternoon at her residence, 52 Central Terrace. One of the features of the afternoon was the wonderful display of flowers in all the rooms. Carnations in shades of red, rare at this time of the year, anemones, and delicate lavender crocus blended with autumn leaves. In the dining-room, where tea was served, the table had for its centrepiece a crystal bowl of pink carnations and tinted autumn foliage, with two long orange candlesticks on each side. Signor Cav. Dottore Formichella and Signora Formichella received the guests in the hall. Signora Formichella was artistically gowned in black mariette, with French embroidery, and a shoulder posy of pink roses. During the afternoon songs were rendered by Mrs. W. Pearce and Miss M. Bennie. Miss I. Fama, who has not long returned from Europe, where she has been continuing her pianoforte studies, delighted everyone with her playing. Among the guests present were Monsieur A. Nihotte, Consul for Belgium, and Madam Nihotte; Mr. J. Dye, Consul for the United States of America and Mrs. Dve:- Lady Sidey, Lady Buckleton. Mis. G W Forbes, Mrs. J. S. Elliott, Mrs. C.
