PLUNKET SOCIETY
The annual meeting of the Carterton Plunket Society on Monday was the first held in the society’s new building in Memorial Square. The acting-president, Mrs. J. Steel, expressed pleasure at this fact. It would bo noticed, she stated, that the membership had increased during the year. She hoped that it would keep on increasing year by year. The meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of those members who had died during the year—Mesdames T. H. Hughes, W. C. Deller, E. H. Hawker, and Dr. F. A. Morton. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. J. Steel; vice-presidents, Mesdames T. W. McDonald, F. E. Nicholson, W. H. Booth, N. G. Rayner, F. Court, J. Udy, Misses Strang and Moncrief!; committee, Mesdames .Howard Jackson, L. J. Harding, E. F. N. Morgan, C. Savill, J. B. Lawrence, E. T. Beaven, 11. B. Madden, W. J; C. Wells, A. W. Beale; advisory committee, Messrs, W. H. Booth, A. C. Tucker, Rev. W. F. Stent, Drs. W. J. C. Wells and R. Campbell; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. H. M. B. Trapp; auditor, Mr. H. Mortenson. The attendance at the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Plunket Society was a record one, nearly all the country districts being represented. Mrs. Albrechtsen presided. The annual report recorded a successful year, and the bal-ance-sheet showed a credit of £99/8/10. It was stated that the subscriptions this year were a little disappointing,, and the committee would like to see an increased membership. Officers were elected as follow: —President.' The annual meeting of the .Patea branch of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was held in the Town Hall supper room recently. There was an excellent attendance. Mr. H.
