BLOWN OFF ROAD

Car and Occupants WOMAN. IN HOSPITAL Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, June 18. While motoring to Palmerston North yesterday Mr. and Mrs. J. Cooksley, of Opiki, had their car blown completely off the road by the exceptionally strong wind raging at the time. The accident occurred at Fitzherbert, where the river bank joints the old Wellington Road. After having negotiated the right-angle bend the car proceeded a few chains toward Palmerston North when the wind came down the valley with such force that it was impossible to keep the car on the road. Mrs. Cooksley was badly cut about the face, subsequently receiving surgical attention. She was removed to the hospital where she will undergo an X-ray examination to-day. Mr. Cooksley received an injury to the knee.
