Asserts He Was Swindled A YEAR’S IMPRISONMENT (Rec. June 14, 5.5 p.m.) Milan, June 13. After • a. week’s trial on charges of fraud, conspiracy, and forgery, John Gialdini, associate of Clarence Hatry, in pleading alleged that the Hatry group swindled him to the extent of £60,000.' ’ A deposition by Hatry stated that Gialdini was conversant with all the affairs of the group, and added: “We have no animus against him. I should hate to think that he was going to share my fate.” Gialdini was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment, but the many months he has already spent in gaol will be deducted from the sentence. He was ordered to pay an unspecified amount of damages to Sir Gilbert Garnsey, representing the >atry companies’ estate which was sequestrated at the time of the arrest. Gialdini intends to appeal. In March of last year Gialdini, who was nn associate of Hatry, the exfinancier, who is now serving a long term of imprisonment for sensational company swindles in England, was arrested while leaving his hotel and taken to the St. Victor Prison. He was brought before an examining magistrate, who decided on evidence from England that be could be prosecuted.
