NAPIER HOSPITAL

Plans for New Building’ EARLY START LIKELY Dominion Special Service Hastings, May 30. It is expected that an early start will be made with the erection of the base hospital on the old site on Colenso Hill, and plans have been prepared by the technical branch of the Health Department. The new hospital, which is to be a two-storied structure, is to be erected on a greater portion of the site than occupied by the old building, and an entirely new lay-out is to be adopted. It is expected that 75 beds will be provided in each story. Differing from the wards in the ruined hospital, the new institution is to contain a larger number of small wards, the largest of which will be capable of taking ten patients. Many rooms will also be built to accommodate one patient.
