RETIRING FROM RAILWAYS

Mr. W. F. G. Pullin, of the Hutt After years’ service in the Railways Department Mr. W. F. G. Pullin, at present of the Hutt Valley workshops, is to retire at the end of this month. On completion of his apprenticeship, which was served at the Addington workshops. Mr. Pullin was transferred to Petone. From there he was transferred to Napier, where he remained until the Coolgardie gold rush, when_ be left the service. Re returned to New Zealand and rejoined the Railways Department. being placed at the Newmar ket workshops, Auckland. There he organised and became superintendent of the ambulance section. He also established a workshops library. During three and a half years of the war he served in the medical corps, and on bis return he was promoted workshops foreman at Grevmoutli. where he remained for nine years. He occupied a similar position at Invercargill. His next promotion was workshops manager at »a no-anui, which was followed by general foreman in the old Petone workshops, and a similar position nt the Hutt A alley workshops.
