Surrey won on the first Innings. Sussex v. Gloucester.—Sussex, first, 107 (Parker five for 50); second. 278 (Rowley 103, Cook not out 101). Giouces ter, first, 289 for five (declared) (Hammond not out 168). Gloucester won on the first innings.

Worcester v. Lancashire.—Worcester, first, 169 (Slbble four for 43, R. Tyldesley five for 3D ; second, 117 (R. Tyldesley six for 28). The critics regard Verity, a slow lefthander, as Rhodes’s successor. He celebrated hla twenty-sixth birthday by taking all the Warwickshire wickets.
