TO OPEN IN JULY

Manawatu Gorge, Bridge

Dominion Special Service

Palmerston North, May 19.

When the construction of the new traffic bridge at the Woodville end of the Manawatu Gorge was begun, it was estimated that the work would take approximately eighteen months. It is now stated that the bridge will be available for traffic at the end of July, three months earlier than anticipated. The bridge will be 450 feet in length and 20 feet wide, permitting of two-way traffic. The workmen are now engaged upon the decking and handrails. Twothirds of the length has been completed. The present bridge, over which traffic is restricted, will be demolished as soon as the new one has been opened for use.
