The liner, being built by John Brown & Co., Ltd., of Clydebank, has a gross tonnage of 7 3,000, a length 1018 feet, and a width of 110 feet. The height from the keel to the boat-deck is 110 feet, and her funnels are 60 feet high and 40 feet wide-giving a total height from keel to top of funnels of 170 feet. Her passenger accommodation will include an arcade of shops, and garage accommodation for passengers' motor-cars. Her speed will exceed 32 knots. The River Clyde will have to be widened and deepened, at a cost of £79,000, to enable the vessel to be safely launched, and additional dry-dock accommodation is being arranged for at Southampton.
