Miss Rona McClure, Feilding, is the guest of Mrs. E. McDonald, Wanganui. Miss Alison Good has returned to Hawera from a long visit to India. Mrs. Eccles has returned to St. John’s Hill. Wanganui, from Wellington. Miss Alice Eton, Masterton, is spending a short holiday at Longbush. Miss H. Horner. New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. T. E. Roberts, Patea. Mrs. J. Kay, Wanganui East, is visiting Ohutu. Miss L. Cocker, Masterton, is spending a few days in Feilding. Mrs. Howard, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs. L. Wilton, Rangitumau. Mr. and Mrs. H. Strauchan have returned to Wanganui from a short visit to Napier. Mrs. G. Ironsides. Wanganui, is visiting her mother, Mrs. C. Arrow. “Hillcrest,” Pahiatua. Miss Sheila McKenzie, Worksop Road, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr. G. Armstrong, mayor of Akaroa, is on a visit to his sister, Mrs. James Robinson, of Beach Road, Foxton. Mrs. and Miss Griffin, of Wellington, are visiting Foxton, and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Perreau. Miss M. J. Doherty, Waverley, is spending the school vacation with her parents, Alfredton Road. Eketahuna.
Mrs. Plummer, of Auckland, is at present on a holiday '-’’sit to Foxton. and is the truest of her sister. Mrs. Ji. Parkes. Mr. and Mrs. J. Paterson, India, are •visiting Mrs. A. Good, Hawera. and were visitors to Wanganui during the week. Mr. and Mrs. C. 11. Symons, of Lady’s Mile, Foxton, have returned after spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss Bain, who has been the guest of her l sister, Mrs. T. Bamber. Wanganui East, has returned to 'Wellington. Jo install a heating apparatus in St. Peter’s Parish Hall, a series of card evenings are being held to raise funds. At the last evening prizes were won by Mesdaines Gallen, Hastings-Moore. Chisholm, and Mr. Thurston. Mrs. 11. Duxfield presided over a meet-
ing held yesterday under the auspices of the W.C.T.U. Mr. Alfred Goldsbury was the speaker, on “Peace.” During the afternoon Mesdames T. Glover sang, and J. Barney gave appropriate recitations. The Rev. and Mrs. H. Whitby James gave a missionary afternoon at the Tinui
Public Hall oil Saturday afternoon. The Rev. F. W. Long. JI.A., of the New Zealand Anglican Board of Missions, gave a short address on India and missionary needs in general. A small stall of work was provided by Sunday school scholars and friends of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tinui, and afternoon tea was served. Considerable interest was taken in a class in tapestry wool-work conducted by Mrs. Cowlain at the monthly meeting of the Ekctahuna Women’s Institute recently. A competition for the prettiest and most useful article made from a sugarbag was won by Mrs. Dowsett, with a tea-cosy. Nurse Anderson spoke of her experiences with the nurses and orphans from the earthquake area at the Auckland Sunshine Club’s camp at Motouihi Island.
