PRINCESS ENGAGED

Noted Austrian Archduke ILEANA’S PAST ROMANCE (Rec. May 5, 8 p.m.) Bucharest, May 5. It is reported that Princess Ileana, whose engagement to Count von Hochberg was' broken off early last year, is engaged to the Archduke Anton of Austria, a noted airman, under the name of Prince Antonio Bourbon.

He participated in the last “round Europe” flight.

Princess Ileana, aged 22, the youngest sister of Rumania’s King, has a will of her own, a fact which added to the romance of the happenings in January of last year.. Though the latest message does not say so, her engagement to Count von Hockberg was broken off without her con-

sent by Rumanian officers of State who wished her to marry “an exalted German prince.” The official reason given was that the Count had a blemished reputation", and was not at all a suitable partner for the youthful Princess. At the time Count von Hochberg refused to comment, but the Princess defied the ministerial duree and telegraphed her lover, urging him to join her in Cairo. Further, she announced a date for the wedding. _ Later the Count was persuaded to explain that the barrier between him and the Princess was a religions one. Nothing came of the elopement scheme, and the engagement finally was completely broken off.
