AMALGAMATION FAVOURED Dominion Special Service. Masterton, May 5. The Minister of Education, Hon. H. Atmore, in a letter to Mr. G. R. Sykes, M.P. states that he will visit Masterton some’ time during the recess to .discuss the question of the location of the new Technical School buildings. From his letter it appears that the Minister favours the policy of amalgamating high and technical schools. He points out that in Nelson, where there is one Of the oldest colleges in the Dominion, and at Napier unification has been decided on. “The time has gone by,” he states, “when we should have watertight compartments for what are really only different but very necessary phases of education. I feel sure that if those interested would read the two books on Oundle School in England ’Sanderson of Oundle’ and lhe Story of n Great Schoolmaster.’ they would realise what a tremendous opportunity there is for any district to try and build up an institution somewhat similar to Oundle, which is acclaimed to-day as the leading secondary school of Great Britain.”
