CONTROL OF BOWLING
Wellington Centre Meets OVERSEA INVITATIONS General business was dealt with at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre last evening. Mr P H. G. Mayer presided. An Invitation to Wellington players to pay a visit to the Rarotonga Bowling Club’s green nt Rarotonga if at any time they should be there, either as passengers on the mall boats or as visitors staying for a time on the island, was received from the Rarotonga club. The bowling season commenced in the autumn (April) and continued practically throughout the whole year, except fot a week or two in January and February. Arrangements had been made whereby a local rink could be got together at short notice to play a rink comprising passengers off the mall boats Club bowls were available for visiting bowlers if required. Should the club be favoured by a visit from members either as passengers off the. mall .boats, or as a team, they , could rest assured of the club’s hospitality. Invitation from Australia.
Advice was received from the New Zealand Council that it had received an invitation for a fully representative party of New Zealand bowlers to take part in the Australian Bowling Carnival to be held at Brisbane on August 24. The imitation had been accepted, and it was-intended that the party should leave the Dominion '“ time to arrive in Brisbane a day or two before the commencement of the carnival, spending about a fortnight in Queensland and three weeks in New South Wales and V The meeting passed a resolution recommending that the Dominion Council invite Mr. Marcus Marks, of Wellington, to act as one of the New Zealand delegates to the International Bowling Board in London to support the Christchurch nominees for the positions of President and honorary treasurer of the Dominion Bowling Association. Mr. HMayer was " nominated as . vl g e ‘^ e stone nnd Messrs. J. Kershaw and S. M. btone were nominated as two of the six nonofficial members for the North Island.
Alteration Wanted. Objection to the system of playing tkree games of 21 heads per day in the chamMonship rink competitions was expressed by Mr. Ji A. Doherty. He considered that instead of three games of 21 heads there should be two games of 25 heads. Wholehearted support was S lve “ b Z r th D O hertv ing to a motion moved by Mr. Doherty that it be a recommendation to the Dominion council to revert to the two games nor day. It was decided to circularise other centres with a view to obtaining supnort for the reconunendatlon. The Incoming executive was recommended to invite the Christchurch team to visit Wellington early in the connng season fo the playing of the Barnett Tiki.
