Miss E. Lewis, Wellington, left for Wanganui on Saturday. Mrs. A. G. Cross has returned to Wanganui from Pahiatua. Mrs. W. M. Gillies has returned to, Wanganui from a visit to Rotorua. Dr. Morice, Mrs. and Miss Morice, are Wellington visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. A. Walker, Wanganui, is visiting Mrs. Richardson at Kakaramea. Miss Peggy Maxwell, Auckland, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. R. G. Petre, St. Albans, has returned from a visit to relatives at Lower Hutt and Heretaunga. Mrs. G. Shirtcliffe, Wellington, who has been visiting Timaru, has returned home. Miss Nancy Howell, who has been the guest of Mrs. R. F. Hill, Timaru, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Eldon Bray and her two children arrived from San Francisco by the Monowai on Monday to stay with her own and her husband’s relatives. Miss Alice Pearce, Dunedin, has returned from Wellington after spending a brief holiday with her sister, Mrs. P. D. Edwards.
Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Strachan, formerly of Wellington, who have been visiting Nelson, have now decided to take up permanent residence there. . Mrs. Hector Rolleston, England, who has been spending several months in Wellington, is at present visiting Mrs. T. Teschemaker, Fendalton, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Robertson, who have been living in Cannes and London for the past six years are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Shirtcliffe, Tinakori Road. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson intend settling in New Zealand. Miss Enid Wilson, principal of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association, and Miss Adams, director, arrived in Dunedin yesterday and will spend the week in observing the work in the local kindergartens. Miss Wilson is the, guest of Mrs. D. Phillips, Royal Terrace, and Miss Adams is the guest of Mrs. Guy Batham, St. Clair. Recent guests at “The Chateau,” Tongariro, included: Sir Douglas and Lady Hall, Captain S. Godfree (England), Mrs.; Brand (Scotland), Miss Moore, Mr. M. Cormoules-Houles (France), Mr. and Mrs. Muir (Melbourne), Major and Mrs. Joske. (Fiji), Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. Field,
Mr. Gavick, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Stewart, Mrs. Robertson, Mr. J. B. Thompson, Mr. Aston, Mr. and Mrs. Rodda and son, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Kerr and Mr. K. Aoyama (Wellington). “Parents’ Day,” recently held at the Friends’ School, Wanganui, was highly successful. The fathers’ team, captained by Mr. J. Cameron, defeated the boys by 100 runs to 54. The mothers’ tennis team was also successful, winning 18 sets to 17. In the evening a concert and display of hobbies was held. Mrs. H. Paul judged the sewing, and Mr. S. A. Gibbons judged the school gardens.
