GANDHI A SPARTAN

To London in Loin Cloth TALK-FILM APPEARANCE (Rec. May 1, 8 p.m.) Delhi, May 1. Mr. Gandhi was filmed in a talkie news reel for the first time to-day. Mr. Bdrsad, an American journalist, asked him if he would wear European

clothes if he were invited to Buckingham Palace during his London visit. “It would be a discourtesy to the King if I appeared in any other than my native costume,” he said. “If the weather permits I shall wear in England my ordinary Indian loin cloth."

If the present arrangements are ad-' hered to Mr. Gandhi will be a member, probably the leader, of the Indian delegation to London for the purpose of resuming the discussions of the Round Table Conference.
