Women’s Division Farmers’ Union The annual meeting of the Waipukurau branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held recently, Mrs. T. H. Groome, of Hatuma. presiding. ' Mrs. Groome outlined the work of the year, and especially mentioned the help rendered during the last two months in the matter of gifts and clothing for relief purposes by the following branches of the union:—Geraldine, Motukarara, Christchurch. Wellington. Opunake, Eltham, Whangaroa, and Paharaka. Regret was expressed at the death during the year of Mesdames W. Clark (Argyle), E. Oakenfull (Waipawa), and A. Cradock, of Otane, all members of the branch. _ , The balance-sheet, showing a credit of £3O/4/1, was adopted. - Officers for 1931 were elected as follow President, Mrs. T. H. Groome (reelected) ; vice-presidents,’Mesdames J. A. Kerr, Chas. Pattison. G. L. Jamieson (Wallingford), Paul Hunter, and A. D. Wallace (Waipawa); general committee. Mesdames T. Black, W. T. Edgecombe. D. Eddy, E. A. Grant, R. H. Tod. T. Percy Wall. H. E. Hall, and A. D. Wallace ; secretary and treasurer, Miss G. Breaches (re-elected). « The proposal that a permanent emergency committee be set up to be able to act quickly in case of further disasters such as the recent earthquake, was very favourably received, and it was resolved that the president, secretary, and Mrs. Jamieson be appointed to represent the branch on the emergency, committee. The meeting closed' with a vote of thanks to .the Press and to the chair. Other Branchu. The annual meeting>f the Okoia (Wanganui) branch of the Women's'Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Wednesday. ’ . Mrs. A. McLeod was re-elected president, and Mesdames R. Jones, M, Hirst, G. McLeod, R. Rice, and Wallace Strachan vice-presidents; Miss Jean MeLeod was elected hon. secretary. Pahiatua branch held its second birthday party on Tuesday, when there was an excellent attendance of members. Taihape will hold its annual meeting on May 9. Mrs. J. 0. Rough, wools for daytime wear are a sign of the times, and trim walking suits at Agnes Samson’s are the last word in fashion.
