Billeting Earthquake Refugees Palmerston North, May 1. Admiration of the splendid manner in which the people of Palmerston North rallied together on the occasion of the recent disastrous Hawke’s Bay earthquake, when they took over the billeting of refugees, was expressed by the Go-vernor-General yesterday, during the course of his address at the opening of the new Massey College buildings. “What would have happened to* those injured in the disaster and those who found themselves homeless had it not been for the hospitality of Palmerston North I hardly bear to think,” said his Excellency.
