OBITUARY
Mr. James Walker The death occurred at his residence at the corner of Thynne and Russell Streets. Foxton, at midday on rVuzac Day of Mr. James Walker, a well-known local resident and returned soldier, says a “Dominion” Special Service message. The late Mr. Walker was born at Maa Chester, England, in 1884, and came out to New Zealand with his parents when one year old, and had resided in Foxton ever since, with the exception of five years spent with his brother farming at Fitzherbert East, Palmerston North. He left New Zealand with the 27th Reinforcement on February 5, 1917, and served in Palestine and Egypt until October 11, 1919, when he was returned to New Zealand broken in health. He marrieo Laura Agatha, only daughter of the lat« Joseph George White, of Palmerston North, on December 4, 1922, at Foxtoii and leaves a wife and one son. 1" children predeceased him. Miss E. J. Smith The death occurred in Wellington on Wednesday of Miss E. J. Smith|. who was connected with the drapery trade in Wellington for nearly 30 years. The late Miss Smith was at one time with the olc Te Aro House Company. For many years she has been connected with the firm ol James Smith. Ltd.-. Manners Street. Her death occurred after a serious operation.
