Kingsford Smith Sets Off .FIRST HOP COMPLETED (Rec. April 27, 8 p.m.) Darwin, April 27. Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith, in the Southern Cross, departed at 7.5'a.m. on his second trip across the Timar Sea with the first Australian air mail to Akyab. He will stop at Koepang, Sourabaya, Singapore, Victoria Point, and Rangoon. The local post office almost ran out of stamps, the staff working without break since 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. More thau 8000 letters were posted locally. “Smithy” will return direct with the second English mail, and will probably makea nother trip to Akyab with the second Australian mail. A later message from Koepang states that the Southern Cross arrived at 11 а. and will proceed to-morrow at dawn. A Quantas plane left for Brisbane at б. a.m. to-day with the English mails brought by Kingsford Smith from Koepang.
