AUCKLAND ‘CHEER-UP’
Week of Business Boost SHOPPING AREA CROWDED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Auckland, April 18. In an endeavour to stimulate business, Auckland business men yesterday inaugurated a “cheer-up” week. Large crowds witnessed a procession of decorated vehicles in Queen Street, and afterward participated in a hunt for free gifts in the shops. The streets are crowded again to-day, and the success of the enterprise ■ in bringing people to the shopping area may be judged from the fact that the tramway receipts yesterday were £3OO greater than on Friday of last week.
