Municipal Elections
Sir, —Can you tell me why so many ratepayers have been disfranchised at the coming municipal election on May 6? There is no provision made for absentees or invalids, and owing to this extraordinary prohibition hundreds of ratepayers will’be unable to vote. In my own case, owing to serious illness, f will be unable to go to the booth and. if away from home, which is probable, will be unable to return to Wellington unless the day is fine. There may be many in the same position, and it seems to me to be unfair to those who love our city and earnestly desire that it should be wisely governed to be deprived of their right to vote.
