Increase in Membership There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Grocers’ Union, which was- held on Tuesday. Mr. .1. Duncan presided. The report and balance-sheet, which were adopted, showed that the finances were in a healthy slate, and that there had been a good increase in the membership. The following officers were elected : — President. Mr. J. Dunean; vice-president, Mr. H. MeNaught; secretary. Mr. J. S. Butcher; treasurer. Mr. T. Senates; trustees. Messrs. Jackson and Sandford ; auditors (re-elected), Messrs. Slack mid Sandford; executive. Messrs. T. Holmes, P. Thorlcy. L. W. Williamson, J. Dillaway, 11. Knotley. The retiring Administrator of Samoa, Air. >S. S. .Vilen, refurnod to New Zealand by the Tofua yesterday. Mr. Allen was accompanied by his daughter (states a Press Association message from Auckland). Mrs. Allen had previously returned to Auckland. Mr. Allen expects (o leave for Wellington lliis evening.
